Why do bad things happen to good people? – Creed Bratton
I canceled my pre-order of Assassin’s Creed after reading the mixed reviews on Metacritic. I heard that the game development team was responsible for Prince of Persia, a classic video game I played a long time ago. That was enough to convince me to take notice. Too bad Assassin’s Creed sounds more like a rental than a $60 purchase.
I’ll be playing Super Mario Galaxy instead.

I rolled a blood elf paladin to play with Groovymarlin and I must say that at level 11 I’m bored with combat. Sure, I’m practically invincible with three save-your-ass spells, but offensively I can’t do anything other than right-clicking and sitting back to eat Cheetos and Mountain Dew. Oh, and I have to remember to buff myself every 5 minutes and my Seals last only 30 seconds. When does it get better??

70 potter

What’s been going on? Not a whole lot. I played WoW with ferocious intensity and reached level 70 with rest state to spare. Then I bought my flying mount and flew straight up to see how high I could go. Pretty damned high – there are clouds up there! I couldn’t go to Blizzcon without being level 70. That’d just be wrong.
I have yet to get the Harry Potter book; CL and AD already finished it even with their slow stop-every-chapter-to-discuss reading style.
MM gets back tomorrow from his 10-day backpacking trip to Glacier park in Montana. Good thing I hit level 70.

Wii Fit

Not til next year in the states. I hope by then they figure out that charging $50 should mean more than a few mini-games (e.g. Big Brain Academy). That scale thing is sweet.
What is up with all the perfect living rooms? They should show one real gamer doing hula hoops in his cluttered, dark apartment.

Super Street Fighter II HD Remix

Oh yeah, Super Street Fighter II HD Remix is in the works! There will be haters, but most people are stoked for this game. It will be released on Xbox 360 for online play. The 360 controller simply won’t work for a 6-button fighting game.
The artwork is by the same guys who did the comic books – a little something called Udon. Yeah, like the soup. The redrawn Akuma looks like he’s on roids. It was an obvious design decision, but really it makes no sense for Akuma to be so huge. He’s a quick martial arts master who can teleport and throw fireballs from the air. I’m scared to see how Chun Li’s legs will turn out.
