Cellar

November 10, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Just got back from The Cellar for Susan’s birthday.  My ears are still ringing, and I feel old.

Yelp reviews of the place were dead-on: prepare for body contact.  There was plenty of room but guys and girls alike felt the need to glide past me with as much body contact as possible.  They also jabbed me with their elbows, purses, and hands as they flailed around to Walk Like An Egyptian.

There was a loose dress code, and the two guys in front of me were denied for their Adidas track jackets and sneakers.  The bouncer explained that next time they should wear button down collared shirts with slacks and dress shoes.  Uh, it’s called The Cellar, and it’s as hot as balls down there.  They should let people in with shorts and tanks.

Gone Daddy Gone

The Violent Femmes royalties are raking it in these days. I’ve heard their version of Gone Daddy Gone (not the Gnarls Barkley version) on NBC’s Chuck, the preview for Ben Stiller’s movie The Heartbreak Kid, and on the local radio station. Xylophones FTW!

Don’t touch just yet

I wanted an iPod Touch, then I didn’t want one, now I want one again.  Due to problems with blacks going negative on early shipments revealed from early reviews, the iPod Touch seemed like a step backwards.  Then there was light at the end of the tunnel: models after “week 37″ (check the 4th and 5th numbers of the serial code on the back) seem to be ok.  The Macy Gray box art is supposedly a give-away for week 38 models.

If I hadn’t checked ilounge.com the past few weeks I might be one of the people who pre-ordered and got a crappy iPod Touch.

It’s still unclear to me if the hissing audio problem is fixed in week 38 models and newer.  Why would both the video AND audio be messed up in early builds and why does Apple continue to deny any problems?  Anyone?

Oh Word?

Hush puppies! No, not the shoes. Those fried corn-meal thingies I ate when I was a kid. They served them for lunch at KG and TM’s company. NA, TC, and I snuck in for lunch today. I was the only person who knew what hush puppies were – must be an East coast thing?

In other news I finally got to the gym after another full week of laziness. I hope to change my current once-a-week regimen. During my workout I listened to the Beastie Boys’s new album and so far so good. Makes me want to be a New Yorker.
