In just 10 days I will transform from typical Bay Area software grunt to typical Seattle software grunt.

The apartment search was craigslist-driven and I found an expensive 1-bedroom that suited me. Then I found movers (cross-checking http://www.movingscam.com). The only thing left to do is pack and say farewell to all the friends I’ve made here.

It’s 7:30 AM on Saturday and I can’t sleep in. This is why I need a vacation. I haven’t had a full week off work this whole year. No wonder I’m going a little crazy.

Thanksgiving weekend was different this year – I didn’t see my family and I flew last-minute to LA to get to a friend’s wedding.  I originally planned to drive but MM’s neck has been seriously hurting (Vicodin wasn’t enough) so we decided a 7+ hour road trip would not help.  I booked a flight on Southwest and I was on the plane within 90 minutes – I got in my seat 10 minutes before takeoff!

Right after I landed in the OC, AL took me to BCD Tofu House and I ate way too much food.  I can’t help it if the soondubu and bulgogi were delicious.

The wedding was awesome and the reception was really touching.  The couple sang a duet and the bride’s father sang a song complete with a captioned slideshow (each photograph had a line from the song).  It must have taken him hours to prepare.

Random memory that I’ll never forget: AL’s house in Newport was a balmy 63 degrees and they refused to turn up the heat.  Taking a shower in the morning was brutal.  I forgot what evaporation at 63 degrees felt like!

Only three weeks until vacation.  I can’t wait for 2008.

At 5pm I drove past Best Buy and people were already camping outside.  I guess they really really want that HDTV for a few hundred dollars less than normal.

I’ll probably wake up late and grab some Polo shirts at Macy’s because they are never on sale except two days per year as one store clerk had explained to me.  The one black Polo shirt I have has stood the test of time and it still fits great.

Had dinner in Menlo Park – driving in the rain with no street lamps is just crazy. The folks in Menlo Park must like their residential streets pitch black at night.

On the way back we saw ambulances and police cars, then a yellow body bag. Then we saw the motorcycle- the front was crushed and the front wheel was 30 feet away. I drove a lot slower after seeing that.

I got food poisoning from one of my favorite restaurants. Last night was one of those nights – nausea is the worst feeling. Now my weekend is basically shot as I’m sore all over and still have a slight fever. I want to eat something but I’m afraid it’ll come right back up.

Too bad the Harry Potter book isn’t out yet; I’d be reading it in bed.

I’m waiting for JC to get his ass over here so we can have dinner… he logged out from AIM about 20 minutes ago, what gives? Tonight I’m off to Oakland airport to drop off CH, who’s flying back to Maryland. As far as what’s going on today… I worked from home and everything worked on the first try – that rarely happens with my code. Having the apartment to myself has been nice. Esperanza, the cat, is probably very bored because both MM and CY are gone for days/weeks. Not that CY likes to play with Esperanza after she got scratched for no reason… now CY calls Esperanza “stupid bitch” when she’s not looking. And in unrelated news I went to the gym during lunch and it was absolutely dead! Everyone in this town must be too busy working.
