Ever since I moved to the west coast I’ve missed the waffle fries at Chick-fil-a. I saw a commercial on TV for Chick-fil-a so there must be one closeby right?
Wrong. Just maybe at Oakland airport if google maps can be trusted.

Thanksgiving weekend was different this year – I didn’t see my family and I flew last-minute to LA to get to a friend’s wedding. I originally planned to drive but MM’s neck has been seriously hurting (Vicodin wasn’t enough) so we decided a 7+ hour road trip would not help. I booked a flight on Southwest and I was on the plane within 90 minutes – I got in my seat 10 minutes before takeoff!
Right after I landed in the OC, AL took me to BCD Tofu House and I ate way too much food. I can’t help it if the soondubu and bulgogi were delicious.
The wedding was awesome and the reception was really touching. The couple sang a duet and the bride’s father sang a song complete with a captioned slideshow (each photograph had a line from the song). It must have taken him hours to prepare.
Random memory that I’ll never forget: AL’s house in Newport was a balmy 63 degrees and they refused to turn up the heat. Taking a shower in the morning was brutal. I forgot what evaporation at 63 degrees felt like!
Only three weeks until vacation. I can’t wait for 2008.
I was planning to get In N Out for dinner but I remembered the massive beef recall. I know California isn’t on the list, but I opted for sushi instead. Some guy at the table next to us kept looking over while he talked to his parents. Creeped me out. I wanted to give him a PopCopy, “… Can I help you?”

For lunch I just had chicken with steamed sweet potatoes and broccoli. In-N-Out sounds pretty good right now.

When do almonds go bad? I guess when they taste bitter. That could indicate cyanide poison, albeit a tiny amount. Still I try to eat two handfuls of almonds a day.

MM made a great salad for dinner and called it Shrimp Louie. Wikipedia didn’t have an entry for Shrimp Louie or Shrimp Louis, but several recipe sites confirmed the name. I had to look it up because the last time he cooked eggs with bell peppers he called it Eggs Florentine, but Eggs Florentine requires spinach!

I had a Jamba Juice earlier today and it’s givin me gas. TMI?
My car’s MFD (multifunctional display) is showing 50.3 MPG. Take that, JL! She told me to refrain from hitting the Reset button after each fill-up and challenged me to see what my average is after a few tanks. Well it’s been three tanks of gas and it’s slowly climbing to 51.0.
We went to Whole Foods last night and everything I got was disgusting. The pizza we usually get was like cardboard and had burnt cheese. The pseudo Doritos I got were dry and boring. The soy Green Tea ice cream was puffy, airy, and just didn’t taste right. That’s what I get for buying organic variations of junk food.

I haven’t blogged in a while, but this inspired me. At work somebody leaves a mug next to the communal sink every morning. It appears that the person eats oatmeal, soaks it in water, and thinks it’s a good idea to leave it near the sink everyone uses right under the paper towels. Sometimes the paper towels hang low enough to soak in the leftover-oatmeal-water. Absolutely disgusting.
Last week I put an anonymous post-it note on the mug that said, “Please remove this from the sink area.” The mug disappeared in the afternoon as it always does, but it returned the next day, soaking digested oatmeal and all. Apparently the person can’t read.

Hush puppies! No, not the shoes. Those fried corn-meal thingies I ate when I was a kid. They served them for lunch at KG and TM’s company. NA, TC, and I snuck in for lunch today. I was the only person who knew what hush puppies were – must be an East coast thing?
In other news I finally got to the gym after another full week of laziness. I hope to change my current once-a-week regimen. During my workout I listened to the Beastie Boys’s new album and so far so good. Makes me want to be a New Yorker.
